Dreaming With Dior

The world of fashion is such that you would be in awe at the mere structuring that takes place between the hands of the designer. This is the case for Monsieur Dior. Like any other lover of fashion, dreaming is where the idea comes from. This is something that has always been inspiring to me and relatable as well. For it is only through dreams that the impossible is made possible. Moreover it is the constant need to fulfil ones soul. To satisfy the need for a fantasy of a life. A fantasy of a world. One that is filled with individuals who have elegance adorning their manners.
Women from this world would come from far off to visit Monsieur Dior and take his advice about fashion. It was in America that something about women's clothes changed the way his dresses were designed. It wasn't a revolution. It was a return to normality and what was common. He introduced it as the "new-look". This new look unlike the previous ones that were first created and that received backlash form women, featured rounded shoulders, a cinched waist and a very full skirt.
Christian Dior was also, no doubt, a man of storytelling, taking inspiration for his designs from his mother's dresses from the 1900s. The pretty and elegant clothes he had remembered his mother wearing served as the main attainable goal to him. I imagine that his designs were made for the youth who hope for a future that is just as pretty. Fashion designers and brands tend to use such narratives and inspirations and are hence, storytellers in their own way. Hooking people in with their compelling stories is what gets people amazed. Matter of fact, mesmerized.
It is quite a wonderous thing to say that Monsieur Dior did, indeed, make his dresses serve to compliment the woman's body. And like other designers like Anna Sui, he made sure to blend the new and the old trends to make it into a thing of beauty and uniqueness. It was almost as though he was preaching about being sincere and true to one's self and nature. Maybe to him, that would be the way a woman creates a revolution.
